Meet Josef

Josef Pessah plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar and some bass, currently holding down lead guitar duties for the South Florida band Blackout. Since picking up the guitar at the age of seven, he has developed his style primarily through his own efforts, but he also studied at Adam B. Young’s School of Music, where he was named Student of the Year in 2012. He cites his musical influences as Jimmy Page, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix, who his father inspired him to listen to at an early age. These legends effectively kick-started his musical education by listening to heavily guitar-laden CD’s of their music. He’s been playing in bands and winning accolades ever since the fifth grade, when his band was featured on the local news for their efforts to raise money for Japan’s tsunami survivors. Josef loves to listen to music and work on original songs with his band mates, but in his spare time, he is a huge soccer fan who enjoys reading physics books and hanging out with friends in his hometown of Boca Raton, Florida.
