Nick Orr is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, playing drums, keyboards and harmonica as well as holding down drums and lead vocal duties for South Florida rock and blues band Blackout. Originally from Coral Springs, Florida, he began playing drums at the age of four, and by the age of thirteen was performing live on a regular basis. He discovered his vocal talent at the age of nine, and spent several years singing with the Florida Singing Sons Boys Choir, taking professional voice lessons as well as honing his chops on piano and theory. He credits his father with getting him into music, and to this day it remains a driving force of nature that pervades every waking moment – notably because he is on the autism spectrum, for which music has become a powerful healing force. Nick has toured with four Florida School of Rock house bands, and has shared the stage with Broadway superstar Idina Menzel, and was invited to play with One Night with Queen by Gary Mullen and the Works at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts. He won a singing contest during the High School Nation Tour in 2015, and continues to practice hard in all his areas of musical discipline. In his spare time, Nick is working on his drum chart reading skills, but also loves to watch TV and surf the internet. Above all, he just wants to make the world a better place through music, filling it with beautiful sounds as well as kindness, love and respect for others.
